The virtual hygienist
Are you desperately trying to care for your teeth and gums but nothing seems to work?
You clean your teeth twice a day, every day, but still you end up being told you need to do better?
Are you terrified of seeing the dentist as you know there are problems with your teeth and gums but you just don’t know how to make things better?
Perhaps you simply can’t get an appointment with your dentist and are worried about the health of your teeth and gums getting worse?
Or maybe you have an appointment booked but it’s not as soon as you’d hoped and you want to know how to care for your mouth in between appointments.
Do you worry about seeing the dentist as you know they’re going to tell you off or nag you about cleaning better when you know you’re trying your best already?
Or perhaps you worry that you’re going to need lots of work doing on your teeth and you hate the sound of the drill, keeping your mouth open for sooo long and that awful numb feeling that seems to last for ages after an appointment.
Or maybe you’re simply worried about how much all this dental treatment is going to cost?
After years of working in dentistry I’ve seen it all, I understand your fears and frustrations, and I love to help people just like you.
I am Sarah-Joy Lendon, a Dental Therapist, Dental Hygienist,
Oral Health Educator, previously a Dental Nurse and now, The Virtual Hygienist.
I have been in dentistry for over 25years and in that time have worked in many different dental settings, from high end Harley Street practices, to Community Dental and the Prison Service.
And, it really doesn’t matter where I work as the problems are always the same, and my patients make the same comment…
‘but why has nobody told me this before?’
In these changing times dental treatment can be hard to
access, for whatever reason, whether it be the cost, or the availability of appointments, or perhaps it’s your fear or anxiety that stops you setting foot in the dental surgery, but whatever it is that’s holding you back, I can help,
because…
Yes, you read that right, dental disease is preventable, and
with the right tools, know how and motivation you too can prevent dental disease from ruining your life.
Well, a lot of what you pay for in the dental surgery is your dental professionals’ knowledge and ability to help you prevent dental disease, but, this preventive side of dentistry can be very repetitive and time consuming for the dental professional, it requires a lot of energy and often times there simply isn’t enough time to dedicate to this side of dentistry when you are in the dental chair.
So, in order to cover these important messages, in a way that is convenient
for you, in a way that helps you to really make a change to your oral health
and in a way that is less anxiety inducing for you and less time and energy
consuming for your dental professionals, I developed a system that means you
can have access to all the information you need to prevent dental problems.
This system does not replace the need to see a dentist, therapist or hygienist as I can not examine your mouth, give a diagnosis or treat you virtually, but I can find out what your problems are and guide you to ways you can help yourself to prevent new dental disease.
If your gums bleed, even if they’ve always bled, I can help you understand why they are bleeding and what you can do to reduce that bleeding.
If every time you visit the dentist you need another new filling, I can help you to understand why that is and what you can do to try to break that cycle.
I believe that every person has the ability to improve the
health of their mouth and since there is such a strong link between the health
of your mouth and your general health, you may just find that your overall
health improves too.
